2004 Nissan Xterra

In this section, I will cover taking the factory radio out, taking door panels off, and running a power wire from your battery.

I am not going to put a lot into this section, just photos. I figure they speak for themselves.

Removing the Factory Deck

Pull here to remove the bottom part of the dash console Remove these two screws to pull the center dash off Remove these two screws to pull the center dash off part 2 Gently pull here and the entire center dash will come off To get the center dash off, you must put it in 4th gear if you have a standard transmission Pic of radio without the center dash on Remove these four screws to get the factory radio out There are 2 connectors for the factory radio (n/a for radio with cd changer)

Removing Door Panels

Important! when installing replacement speakers make sure that you roll the windows all the way down. As you can see in the picture below there is very little room to mount the speaker.

Start here when taking the door pannel off. Remove these two screws and the door should pop off. The front doors have a very shallow mounting depth, make sure you have your windows all the way down when installing new speakers. Here I used a pice of 3/4" MDF to give me a little more room. Installed speaker 6.5" Kicker R6.5

Running the Power Wire

I am running 2ga wire in these photos.

Here is where you could run your power cable. Here is where I ran the power cable up throught the floor. fish cable for where I ran my power cable. a predrilled hole Nissan so nicely left for us. Power cable running up through the floor. 2ga cable running nicely under the factory cable runner.
