Tweeter Pods

Tweeter Pod for 97 Nissan Maxima

Pros:

  • Better soundstage.
  • Speakers are facing you, which makes the music more clear.

Cons:

  • Complex construction.
  • Not every vehicle has a removable panel for making a tweeter pod.

Summary:

  • This project will take about 10 - 20 hours to construct a pair of pods and will cost about $25 in materials.

Materials:

  • Rubber Gloves (You can get a box at your local drug store.)
  • Bondo and Hardener
  • 60-400 Grit Sandpaper
  • 2 inch Masking Tape
  • Spray Adhesive

Tools:

  • Jig Saw
  • Hot Glue Gun

Getting Started:

The first thing you want to do is to buy your tweeters or component set. Once you have made that, you can get started.

Take your tweeters out to the car and while sitting in the driver's seat, hold the tweeters in a position that best fits your listening preferences (I have mine pointed almost directly at me).

Some times it is helpful to hook them up to your amplifier or deck and hot glue them in position. Take a test drive and see if this is where you want them.

Sometimes you have to settle some where between what sounds best and what is feasible for an install. Tweeters play one of the bigest parts in getting your center soundstage.
