About

This site is designed to assist anyone who is interested in Car Audio or Home Audio. diyCarStereo.com was setup to help in any way it can to provide useful information to visitors. Some of the information is proprietary for the vehicles that I use, but the methods and techniques are the same for just about any car.

Car Stereo is my hobby along with building home theater speaker projects. I started building car systems about 9 years ago. I had a full size pickup truck with a couple of coaxle speakers with a cheap cd player. I purchased a 2x10 woofer box from JC Whitney Co. for $50 and put a $10 eq/amp in. As with any hobby, you have to start somewhere. I always find it fascinating to see where some of the car audio minds of today got their start. I recently read an article about a young man who put all of his DJ equipment in his car and ran a generator to power it all. He then piped the exauast out the back window. Another guy put a stereo in a car that didn't even run.
Having a passion for something can cause you to do remarkable things.
I hope that this site will help and encourage you to experiment with fiberglass, bondo, and MDF. With a little creativity, your options are endless.
